Bombay Sapphire: A Gin of Ten Journeys

Fri 23 Jun 2017

We are delighted to have worked with AMVBBDO on the Bombay Sapphire ‘A Gin of Ten Journeys’ campaign with Mariana Rodrigues. The campaign explores the individual depths of each of the ten sustainably sourced botanical ingredients that are vapour infused to create Bombay Sapphire’s perfectly balanced gin.

With Mariana leading the illustration style, Jelly’s animation studio The Kitchen worked collaboratively with her and the agency to build a world that encompassed the natural and organic to illustrate the ten journeys. With a nod to tradition, but with a contemporary eye, the illustration style and animation movement combine to deliver beautiful executions that highlight the botanicals in a vibrant and elegant way.

The animation has an overall sensation of symmetry and is a floral abundance. It is rich in detail while maintaining an element of calm.

The campaign is currently live across print and digital OOH sites in the UK and Europe, online and throughout Bombay Sapphire events and related PR.

More About Mariana Rodrigues

Mariana first joined Jelly London as one of our ‘Futures’ artists. We fell for Mariana instantly, not only her attitude, passion and personality but her portfolio of stunningly assembled patterns and botanical illustrations.

Her style is based on deconstructing objects — often nature — and reassembling them into a new, imaginary whole. Her eye for detail allows her to recreate botanicals and elements, realistically, truthfully, but in a contemporary and refreshing style. Colour and balance of composition are one of defining features of her signature style. Her illustrations are created by a combination of techniques: pencil, ink, watercolour and digital colouring.

Originally from Portugal, Mariana has lived and worked around the globe, having spent a period of time in Tokyo, now based in London, her work draws on her unique cultural experience and worldliness.

She has most recently created illustrations for Hollie Newton’s debut read ‘How to Grow’ with a collection of beautiful, graphic botanical illustrations. Other clients include Crabtree & Evelyn, Work Club for Original Source, Baku and Vogue Japan.
